Caesar: A Prince in Disguise!

Hey! Hold on Lucy! Enough already about the Sea of Galilee. It's my turn . I'm supposed to tell them more about Caesar today.

Okay. Hold your horses, Pete. Didn't mean to 'step on your toes.' (Grandma always says that!). You go ahead. I like hearing stories about Caesar too. Especially this one!
Besides, it gives everyone until tomorrow to send me a comment and let me know what the Sea of Galilee looks like to them! I'm going to post everyone's comments to see what gets the most votes. (Hint: I think it looks like a human heart. What do you think?)

"Okay, cool!
Well, I told everyone last week how Caesar was a little island cat (would be called a “street cat” if in a city). He didn’t belong to anyone and he followed Dad all around, until Dad finally picked him up and brought him home to us... (best thing that ever happened!) When all our friends asked what breed he was, we’d say, “he’s just a little island cat from Greece!” (which I thought was cool enough!)
Well, it ends up Caesar is actually a real breed (not that it makes a difference to how much we love him – but it sure is cool!). Not just that but he's one of the oldest cat breeds in the world! Probably 10,000 years old!
What breed?
He’s known as an Aegean Cat. His ancestors developed all over the Ancient Greek world around the Aegean Sea (see map below).
Isn't it cool to think that Jesus probably saw an Aegean cat - maybe one just like Caesar.
Anyway... that's why he's a prince of a cat in disguise. (Humm... maybe we named him correctly after all - Caesar! Get it!)
Shuu... but don't tell him! We like our nice normal house cat!

Check out this video:

How many of you think the orange and white cats in the video look like they could be Caesar's brother and sisters? Leave me a comment and let me know if you think so.
Super cool, Huh!

Lucy here: Remember, tomorrow we'll see what everything thinks the Sea of Galilee (see below) looks like to them.

How Caesar became our family cat

Hi guys,

Bet many of you are wondering how Caesar came to be our family cat. Right? Well, I love telling stories and this is a good one...

Dad first met Caesar when he was in Greece about a year and a half ago. He was on a sunny Greek island filming a documentary about ancient sailors when he first saw Caesar jumping, and playing with the waves and an old fishing net on the seashore. Caesar was only six months old back then.

But when Caesar saw Dad he stopped playing, looked up at him with his green eyes and just starting meowing as he followed him around.

It was cool! Dad said it was like Caesar was telling him that he wanted to come back to Maine and be our family cat.

Caesar didn’t belong to anybody but even still, Dad wasn’t sure he should bring him all the way across the world from Greece to Maine. After all, Caesar might not be a good traveler (and Dad didn’t want him throwing up all over the place!).

But while Dad was filming on the island Caesar continued to follow him.

“That cat is yours, whether you know it or not,” the old fishermen used to shout out to Dad.

“He’ll swim across the Sea to find you if you leave him behind!” the young sailors warned.

So, when it was time to leave, what did Dad do? He bought a cat carrier and did just as Caesar asked: brought him back to us! It ends up that Caesar is a fantastic traveler.

So that’s how Caesar – the most awesome island cat ever – came to be the Sinclair family cat!

Wasn't that a cool story?

Talk soon,
Pete

P.S. Next week I’ll tell you how Caesar - the little island cat - actually ended up being a prince of a cat in disguise!

Meet Caesar...

Hi!
We’d like to introduce you to our best feline friend, Caesar!
He wants to share five of his favorite things with you too…

Caesar’s five favorites:
favorite food: bread and cheese (as a sandwich, pizza or plain)
favorite pastime: de-tailing his toy “mice” (which is actually serious business)
favorite place in the house: the bathroom (playing with running water in the sink)
favorite way to travel: Pete’s shoulders (see the photo?)
favorite hiding place : the cubby hole (that’s ours too!)

And we’d like to add that our favorite thing about Caesar is that he’s both the sweetest and bravest cat we know. Oh, and his fur is really soft, cozy and cuddly too :)

Love,
Pete and Lucy

Meet Pete...

Hi everybody!
I'm Pete Sinclair and the friend on my shoulder (his favorite place to travel) is my cat, Caesar.
To jump start our getting to know each other I thought I'd start by sharing a few of my favorite things. But just a few; if I shared all of my favorite things then there wouldn't be enough space in the entire cyberspace to list them!

Pete's five favorites:
favorite food: peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich (yummy!)
favorite color: green (like my backpack)
favorite place in the world: Christmas Town, Maine
favorite time of the year: Christmas (of course!)
favorite sport: running (I won the silver medal last year at my school's relay race)

So, there you have them!
My twin sister, Lucy, is going to be joining us and she'll share her five favorites soon too!
But in the meantime, I was wondering... what are your five favorites?
Talk soon!
Pete
